NEW YORK ”the great apple", the city of huge skyscrapers, millions of people and a fast pace of life, is an incredible cultural melting pot with more nationalities than any city in the World. It is also a city which not only thrives –against all odds- but also a city which enormous strength and dynamism is felt throughout the planet.

st-patricksIn the winter, when the city wakes up every now and then covered in snow, and when the Christmas rush is over, it's the time when transatlantic flights are cheaper. For this reason, we like to present this extraordinary choral experience during March offering these performance opportunities for your choir:

  • One concert in one of the historical New York Churches
  • One friendship Concert together with a New York –or visiting choir.
  • Singing in a mass service.

As an optional programme, there is so much to choose from…! During this weekend the Pathmar-Gospel Competition takes place congregating some of the finest choirs in the New York area; the spectacular Broadway shows or the sightseeing visits of upper and lower Manhattan.

For those choirs wishing to get to know more of the country, there is always the possibility to have an extended stay inrockefellerctr
the USA and visit Boston, Washington or Niagara Falls
–as an example of many other possibilities.

A professional assistant-guide will be at your side to cater for all details of artistic nature and all other aspects of your stay in New York so as to make your experience in the City as relaxed and pleasant as possible.

The event is organized by Music Contact International USA, our associates in North America, the organizers of the Vermont Choral Festival and therefore long time experts in the production of Choral events.


Thursday: Welcome to New York ● Opening Concert

skyline-nyChoir groups will be arriving in New York throughout the day. On arrival Choirs will be met by a Music Contact International representative who will assist at the Hotel check-in and provide required information.

In the evening Opening Concert New York City Choral Exchange, performed by a local choir or an orchestra to welcome you to the city. During this event you will have the opportunity to get to know the participants in the programme.
After the concert your tour director will suggest some options regarding dinner in Manhattan (not included) before returning by coach to the hotel.

Friday: New York ● Choral Exchange Concert ● Individual Concert

After breakfast, the choirs meet at the immense neo-gothic Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine to participate in this morning’s Choral Exchange Performance.  Share your repertoire with other participating choirs and listen to their selection of music from around the world...

sjohn-the-divineIn the afternoon and Individual performance Opportunity is arranged for your choir at a local venue.  Performance settings include schools, senior homes, hospitals, churches, museums or public spaces such as the UN public lobby. Alternatively a gospel Workshops can be arranged for your choir (workshop supplement applies).

This evening, your tour manager will provide suggestions for dinner on your own in New York City. Choirs may choose to see Broadway productions this evening (additional pricing).
Return to your hotel by coach in the evening.

Saturday: New York ● Friendship Concert

Today, embark on a guided city tour of New York with a local guide. Explore the island of Manhattan. First visit Central Park, a green oasis in the middle of New York’s concrete jungle.  The park covers 840 acres and offers landscaped Gardens as well as many opportunities for recreational sports. Nearby The Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts, one of New York’s finest arts institutions, occupying an 8-block area. The complex can seat nearly 15.000 spectators for events such as opera, ballet and film.  Later, travel south to see New York’s famous and colourful Chinatown; the narrow streets with oriental shops and restaurants seem like a city within a city.  In contrast to Chinatown is Cosmopolitan Greenwich Village. Travel down Wall Street, one of the most famous 1/3 of a mile stretches in the world. Around the corner, on Broad Street, is the New York Stock Exchange where the chaotic trading takes place everyday. Finally view the Statute of Liberty from the southern tip of Manhattan, Battery Park.

In the evening you will take part in a Friendship Concert where visiting and New York Choirs exchange culture and get to know each other through a shared love of singing. Dinner can be arranged upon request (not included).

Sunday: New York ● Worship Service - Depart New York City

This morning, visit f of New York’s beautiful churches where your choir is invited to sing in the morning’s worships services. On Sunday afternoon choirs will depart New York City to return home or extend their stay in the USA.
